Hi, everyone, Redhead here. First, thank you all for your support, whether through monthly votes, recommendation votes, tips, bookmarks, or suggestions. Every bit of it was wonderful.
With your support and encouragement, I stumbled my way through nearly a month of writing and finally finished volume one.
If I counted correctly, volume one came to somewhere between 170,000 and 180,000 Chinese characters. I originally wanted to call it "A Visitor from a Shooting Star," but that felt too science-fictional, so I changed it to "An Interlude in Self-development."
It mainly covered the protagonist's rise, giving him a little bit of strength in Middle-earth. I won't go into too much detail about that.
I was genuinely grateful to everyone who offered different suggestions. As long as you weren't simply looking for trouble and your suggestions had some substance, I took them to heart.
I also replied to questions. Just look at my author bio: my writing isn't much good, but I sure do talk a lot of shit.
Yep, that's me.
Some readers' suggestions baffled me. They came right out and said my book was bound to flop and told me to drop it. I'd only written a few tens of thousands of characters at that point, and they already wanted me to quit? d(ŐдŐ๑)
Then there were readers who read twelve chapters over half a month and asked some inexplicable questions, like how people were supposed to eat the wheat. Allen thought, I handed it out to them. They can eat it however they like.
I honestly had no idea how to answer questions like that. I was just writing a webnovel, not A Bite of Middle-earth, and I wasn't going to describe every detail that minutely.
Putting out 5,600 characters a day wasn't easy. I was only an amateur, part-time writer, writing out of sheer passion. My skills were honestly pretty average, and my abilities were limited.
On that note, I still have to thank you all for putting up with my shortcomings. Thank you.
Just between us, I went back and redid the paragraph breaks in chapters one through nine. They still weren't great, but they should have been a little better than before.
Oh, and for future updates, I'll probably split each day's word count into two chapters of a little over 2,000 characters each. That might make things a bit easier for everyone to read.
Also, I've always felt that my protagonist ought to get out more and meet the big shots from different sides, so it would be easier for him to approach them when something came up later.
In practice, though, I wasn't very good at writing that sort of plot, so please go easy on me.
The plot needed it! There was nothing I could do! (ノ๑`ȏ´๑)ノ︵
I still hope you'll keep supporting me. One reader wrote a very long comment, and he made a good point: for a nonprofessional webnovel author like me, running on sheer passion, how could I possibly keep going without positive feedback?
How could I count on inspiration flowing freely enough to write 5,000 characters every day? It was all thanks to you.
Anyway, that brought volume one to a close. Coming up next is volume two, "When the Interlude Sounds"-when the interlude changes the world.
You could say that's where we properly get into the main plot.
That's it for this wrap-up. Thank you all for your support. Thank you.
