The book goes paid tonight, and I have no idea how things will turn out, so let me talk about the update schedule. Today's updates will total a little under 10,000 Chinese characters. If subscriptions go well, I'll put out another 10,000 tomorrow. And then that's it-I'll be wrung dry, with not a single drop left.
Next, a few thoughts. I never expected to make it as far as a paid release. It wasn't that I thought I wouldn't finish the book; my idea at the time was to write a book of my own. It might be a little short, but I wanted to put my own ideas into it and have something to look back on.
So I wasn't even confident I'd get a contract. At the start, I really just picked up my pen and wrote without thinking much about it. That was why I later went to Bilibili to ask my friends there for support. If I hadn't gotten a contract, I would definitely have just written whenever I felt like it, and who knows what would have happened after that.
Before I uploaded anything to Qidian, I'd already written over 50,000 characters. Back then, I was pretty casual about it: at least 6,000 a day, and grinding out 10,000 on a day off was no problem. Of course, I didn't write every day.
But after I started uploading to Qidian, the more I wrote, the more nervous I got, because I really hadn't expected so many people to support me.
You actually pushed me all the way to number one on the fantasy new releases chart, which really touched me. Lots of you also offered suggestions and helped catch mistakes, and I'm truly grateful. Once the book goes paid, though, I won't be able to change the text as freely, so please bear with any errors you come across. If things go well, I'll ask my wife to go through it and check for typos. グッ!(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧.
One thing about me is that when people show me respect, I make sure to live up to it. When people support me, I want to do everything I can to write well. And look what happened: now, even giving it my all, I manage 4,000 characters a day, or 6,000 on a day off. My output dropped by a full third.
I'm a longtime bookworm myself, and my biggest source of confidence in writing this book is probably that it reads smoothly to me, and that every chapter has something in it. Whether it advances the plot or introduces a character, the point is that there has to be something there, something that changes this world.
And, of course, I'm asking you to subscribe. At the end of the day, I still have to swallow my pride to earn a living. If my efforts can bring in a little extra money to help with household expenses, that would be wonderful. Being a middle-aged man comes with a lot of pressure, fellow readers.
Also, just between us, for over a month now my wife has complained every day that I've become such a busy man that I don't even have time to chat with her anymore. If I can earn some money from this, maybe things will get a little better.
Well, I'll leave it there. Thank you all for your support. Thank you.
