High in the air, the Copper Messenger-Antheros-reluctantly discarded the sea monster carcass, with just under half of it still uneaten. The great heads of the monsters on the sea below were far more tempting to a dragon!
Relying on her incredible speed, Antheros shot toward another medium-sized sea monster like an arrow loosed from a bow.
The distant spectators saw only a copper blur skim across the sea. Antheros had seized another sea monster, its tentacles alone over forty meters long, and carried it into the air.
Although the octopus monsters were coated in slippery slime, a great dragon's claws could easily pierce their bodies and hold them firmly in its grasp.
Antheros's orange dragonfire, tinged with a violet sheen, soon roasted the monster's head. In less than a quarter of an hour, she devoured the entire head, tossed the remaining tentacles into the sea, and began her next hunt.
Meanwhile, the Big-Head Queen-Himolos-had also devoured an entire sea monster. Having acquired a taste for them, the huge-headed dragon immediately descended again. Unlike the timid, cautious Antheros, however, Himolos specifically sought out the largest prey.
Before long, a massive sea monster near the ruins of a watchtower caught Himolos's attention. It was trying to smother the green wildfire on its body with mud and sand. Including its tentacles, it measured a full eighty or ninety meters long-exactly what Himolos wanted.
"Raaagh!"
Though she lacked Antheros's extraordinary speed, a great dragon was still a great dragon. Even a slow one could rival an ordinary modern aircraft, so a few bursts of speed brought Himolos right before the monster.
Sensing danger, the massive sea monster immediately lashed its tentacles at Himolos. But against her formidable body, even a monster of that size clearly could do her no harm.
Himolos dodged its flailing
