The Beast Zone of the Menagerie boasted quite a variety of fierce animals, from jackals and wolves to tigers and leopards. To satisfy their enormous appetites, large numbers of pigs, cattle, and sheep had to be purchased from outside every day, in addition to the livestock raised on the island.
While Danyla and the others toured the Beast Zone, they saw quite a few servants driving cattle and sheep over.
Utheryan, however, clearly had his complaints about this.
"Honestly! Every year, forty to fifty percent of the Sealord's Palace's expenses go toward feeding these rare birds and exotic beasts. Aside from satisfying everyone's curiosity, I really don't see what's so wonderful about them."
Seeing that her younger brother was about to speak out of turn again, Uthenia interrupted him and pointed toward a river valley in the distance.
"Your Highness, that valley houses venomous creatures, snakes, and insects. You can see all sorts of venomous snakes and Scorpion-Tailed Beasts there. If you don't mind, we could go take a look. But please rest assured, the viewing paths have all been secured, so there's no danger."
Danyla had no interest whatsoever in snakes, bugs, and vermin, so she politely declined.
"Let's not. Those things are rather disgusting. I prefer pretty, adorable animals."
"Your Highness will definitely love the little Valyrians!"
Hearing this, Utheryan immediately recommended them to Danyla.
Valyrians were renowned for their silver-gold hair and purple eyes, features found among no other people in the world. Hair ranging from white and silver-gold to gold, and eyes ranging from lilac and deep purple to pale blue, gave the noble Valyrians extraordinary beauty.
A species of lemur living in the forests of Qohor had similar physical features: silvery-white fur and purple eyes. For that reason, they were called "little Valyrians."
