Victory at Skyreach gave Danyla complete control over the two main overland routes, eastern and western, linking Dorne to the Seven Kingdoms. With Skyreach and Yronwood held, the Dornish would find it difficult to slip into the Red Mountains through them again.
At last, Danyla could develop the occupied territories with peace of mind. The best way to occupy a place was to settle people on it.
With Rafa's terrifying claws and rock-melting dragonfire to help, almost enough dragonstone to build a new city was forged every day, so infrastructure projects everywhere progressed exceptionally smoothly.
During this time, Danyla rode her great dragon on daily patrols throughout the occupied territories. With Rafa's help, she could easily divert rivers and reshape the terrain, gradually transforming more areas that had been inhospitable to human settlement.
With the constant influx of Free Folk and tens of thousands of soldiers helping as well, infrastructure work in the occupied territories advanced remarkably smoothly. Both Dragonstone Avenue and the raised, thickened city walls quickly took shape.
Danyla had also mastered the knack of regulating the climate with weirwood and Bronze Runes. Rainfall in the occupied territories had increased greatly, and many mountainous areas had begun to grow lush and green.
The increased volume of water made the Vale River and Yronwood River ever more turbulent. Danyla therefore had numerous large waterwheels built in the villages along both rivers.
These not only powered mills and smithies but also fed fresh water into the canals Danyla had dug with her dragon, giving many desert and semidesert regions the conditions needed to become fertile land.
With the great dragons stationed there and patrolling, and the armies of the Reach and the Stormlands constantly sweeping the surrounding areas and hunting down their enemies, the Dornish guerrilla strategy had utterly collapsed.
