Sunfyre roared and spewed scorching orange-gold flames, but the two Longwing Dragons nimbly dodged them and closed in on him from both sides without slowing down.
Their sharp claws shot toward Sunfyre. He twisted his body and narrowly evaded their attacks.
Just then, one Longwing Dragon suddenly accelerated and ambushed him from behind, sinking its teeth into his tail. Sunfyre roared in pain, whipped around, and savagely bit at the Longwing Dragon's neck with his sharp teeth.

Sunfyre's bite shattered the scales on its neck and broke several vertebrae. In pain, the Longwing Dragon released his tail from its pointed jaws. The wound on its neck also seemed to have damaged the nerves controlling its body, leaving it flying as though it had suffered a stroke.
But Sunfyre was suffering too. Hot blood gushed from the wound on his tail. The injury severely hampered his flight, making it difficult even to maintain his balance.
