At the sight, Wukong's eyes rolled twice, and he suddenly broke into a grin.

"Ohh~~"

He rubbed his chin, his smile growing wider and wider.

"Now I know why that old fellow wouldn't come himself."

"Just look at the mess he's made. All he wanted was a disciple, but not one of them would listen."

Wukong raised a hand and pointed at Jiang Shinian.

"This lad doesn't look like an easy one either. Something must have gone wrong again."

"That old fellow was afraid I'd laugh at him if I found out. That's why he's been hiding."

Bajie had been crying hard. He wiped his nose on his sleeve and said thickly, "Brother Monkey's right."

Wukong chuckled and sidled back up to Xuanzang.

"Master, why did you stop? Keep going. What happened next?"

The broken horn in Xuanzang's palm abruptly burned away, crumbling into drifting ash.

The newcomer had white hair hanging to his shoulders and wore a loose robe with wide sleeves. His face was frighteningly dark.

Xuanzang rose and pressed his palms together. "Xuanzang greets the Dao Ancestor."

His disciples followed suit.

Wukong grinned and was just about to speak when the Old Lord turned his gaze on him.

"Monkey. Enough of your mischief."

"I am not happy this time. Say one more word, and you'll lose the reward I had meant to give you. Making a fuss won't help."

Wukong's grin vanished at once.

He pressed his palms together, his expression more respectful than ever before. "Wukong greets the Dao Ancestor."

Bajie stole a glance at him.

Wukong stared straight ahead.
