Wang Yu swept his broad sleeve toward the enormous wall of fire before him, sending several spell seals into it.
A sizzling crackle rang out.
The wall of fire surged skyward and became a thick cloud of flame, staining almost half the sky red as it rolled toward the other side.
A piercing screech came from the black mist opposite him. The mist likewise billowed upward and collided with the advancing fire cloud.
Rumble!
The black and red clouds of flame burst apart like boiling water colliding with scalding oil. The two colors tangled together, then scattered and died out.
An enormous creature charged out of the remaining black mist-a monstrous rat forty feet long.
Its body was covered in stiff, emerald-green fur, its mouth bristled with pitch-black fangs, and its eyes were blood-red. Six limbs sprouted from its belly, while a pair of fleshy red bat wings grew from its back.
More striking still was the tall figure standing on the monstrous rat's back. He wore black robes and a gray bamboo hat, with a massive blade strapped to his back. A white coffin also rested on the beast's back beside his feet.
At the sight, Wang Yu activated his spell seal without a second thought.
Amid peals of thunder, the three small mirrors circling him transformed into Floating Cannons. Their three long barrels simultaneously aimed at the tall figure atop the beast.
This attack form had once consumed far too much Dharma Power for him to use, but after reaching Foundation Establishment, he now had enough to unleash its full might.
Almost at the same instant, the tall demonic cultivator atop the giant rat raised one hand. A dark Iron Shield expanded in the wind to over ten feet across and positioned itself before him.
