"What did it used to do? Isn't Xiyuan Company a recycling company funded by a Faxike businessman? Does your company have other lines of business?" With a cigarette dangling from his lips, Li Xiaodao glanced at the old man and replied casually.
"You've hit the nail on the head, young man. Although Xiyuan Company is nominally funded by a Faxike businessman, someone else actually calls the shots. Xiyuan Company wasn't originally in the recycling business, either. It handled mortgage loans and the odd bit of bloodshed. It's just cleaned up its act considerably over the past two years, so there's less of that sort of thing now," the fat old man explained with a broad smile.
"Bloodshed? Your Xiyuan Company has gang ties?" The cigarette in Li Xiaodao's mouth suddenly lost its refreshing effect. He frowned at the old man.
"Yes. Xiyuan Company's largest shareholder is actually a big shot in the Val Gang. Not many people know about it, though. You should know very well that some important people don't like drawing attention to themselves. And as luck would have it, I used to work as that big shot's driver," the fat old man said with a chuckle.
Almost at the same moment, footsteps rustled in the nearby darkness. Seven or eight burly men in tight black clothing emerged silently, all carrying sharp long knives or long iron rods. In an instant, they surrounded both Li Xiaodao and the truck.
"What's this supposed to mean?" Seeing this, Li Xiaodao spat out his cigarette and coldly questioned the old man.
"Isn't it obvious? We're robbing the robbers, of course. You didn't really think someone my age would believe that story about your personal hobby, did you?
"Judging by the time, your accomplice should have retrieved whatever he was looking for
