On the arena below, the two combatants were both employing highly unusual methods.
One was a brocade-robed young man with a mean-looking face. He formed hand seals with both hands, layers of multicolored defensive Light Screens spread out before him, while a dense mass of offensive Talismans floated behind him. From first tier to second tier, he had almost every common variety imaginable.
Some of those Talismans were transforming into all manner of offensive spells, pouring toward his opponent like a raging storm.
This young man was none other than Sun Chan, a descendant of the master of Hidden Edge Hall.
His opponent, a gaunt man with a withered face, stood opposite him with his hands clasped behind his back, his expression blank. Three enormous Wooden Boxes hovered above his head, constantly spewing out puppets of every size and shape.

As a result, most were exceptionally light and could only unleash simple Entry-Level Spells such as Fireballs and Wind Blades. Their bodies could withstand only two or three spell attacks from the opposing Talismans, but their strength lay in their unending numbers, as though the Wooden Boxes held an inexhaustible supply.
What drew the eye were the two distinctly different high-tier puppets standing in a row before the gaunt man.
