Chen Wei floundered twice in the water, grabbed blindly at the edge of the pool with both hands, and hauled himself upright, spitting out a mouthful of water along the way.

Only after he found his footing and steadied his breathing did he realize something had changed beside the pool.

Yang Chan had already left the water.

An immortal's methods were swift indeed. Getting dressed took no more than a thought.

Through his divine sense, he perceived her.

Yang Chan leaned casually beside the pool. Her already thin clothes had absorbed some of the damp mist, clinging here and there to outline a waist slender enough to encircle with one hand. Her wet black hair spilled down either side, a few slightly curled strands resting against her neck, crystalline droplets still hanging from their tips.

With her skirt lifted slightly, she rested two little bare feet, whiter than frost and snow, lightly on the water.

Again and again, she stirred the pool, sending out rings of delicate ripples.

Mist drifted all around her. What a picture of a fairy fresh from her bath!

Yang Chan's lovely eyes shifted toward Chen Wei, watching him with the hint of a smile.

Even with all his efforts at restraint, Chen Wei had to admit that the sight packed far too devastating a punch.

What should I do?

Play dumb.

Play blind.

"Chan'er, where are you?" Chen Wei called out twice, putting on an act.

"You big fool!" Seeing his ridiculous performance, Yang Chan covered her mouth and laughed, her charm blossoming in a hundred ways. "You can see everything perfectly clearly with your divine sense spread out, yet you insist on tying a cloth over your eyes?"

"I really can't see!"

"Still being cheeky?"

"You're amazing, Chan'er. Nothing gets past you!"
