Yu Wendong looked at the eerie, icy chains binding him fast, then raised his head toward Su Mo. "If you dare kill me, my Rain Clan will slaughter your entire clan."
"Your Rain Clan seems fond of saying that. Yu Qi said it before, and now you're saying it too." Su Mo shook his head. "If I didn't dare kill you, why would I go to all this trouble?"
Yu Wendong's eyes widened at those words. "You were the one who killed the Ninth Elder's great-great-grandson?" he asked in disbelief.
Su Mo nodded, admitting it.
"You're dead. Our Ninth Elder has already descended to the Lower Realm. He will find you and slaughter your entire clan," Yu Wendong said, his eyes vicious.
Su Mo shook his head and sighed. "It seems you don't want to talk."
Yu Wendong closed his eyes, as though hoping to see Su Mo's helplessness this way.
Su Mo nodded and beckoned. A long, slender chain darted out of thin air and extended toward him.
This chilling chain differed from the others. At its tip was an exceedingly sharp dagger, pitch-black all over and gleaming with cold light.
"Have you heard of death by a thousand cuts?" Su Mo asked indifferently. Seeing no response, he went on as though talking to himself:
"It means slicing your body off piece by piece with a blade, making a full thousand cuts while keeping you conscious throughout. This punishment is very popular among mortals, but you're a cultivator, so I've made some improvements."
"Each cut will take a piece of your soul along with your flesh. Pain in the soul is true pain," Su Mo slowly explained.
At that moment, Su Mo was utterly calm and cold, no longer like the mild, easygoing Confucian scholar he had been before.
