Chun Xiaobai stared at the narrow path leading to Fallen Phoenix Mountain, then glanced back the way he had come, wavering for a moment.
Should I go or not?
No, I have to go!
Ten billion spirit stones!
How could I turn down a juicy slab of meat already at my lips?
Besides, backing down has never been my style!
Chun Xiaobai slapped his thigh, stiffened his neck, and prepared to charge ahead.
But barely one step later, he abruptly stopped himself.
"No, no!"
"This king isn't afraid of dying, but... but I am afraid of being pleasured to death!"
He stood there, scratching his head and ears. After a moment's thought, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he turned his gaze toward a small town nestled in a hollow nearby.
I've got it!
With a flicker, he slipped toward the town.
He did nothing else at first, only bought 100 toilets, found several of the foulest latrines, and steeped himself in their stench for an hour before roaming the streets and alleys for another half hour.
Still not satisfied, he tore off two wads of cotton and jammed them tightly into his nostrils.
Finally, he ran to the market and visited every stall selling stinky tofu and salted fish. He also bought a heap of pungent spices and smeared them haphazardly over himself.
Four hours later, when he returned to the hillside, he had become a walking biological weapon.
He put his hood back on, hiding his hideously swollen pig's face, then slipped stealthily toward Fallen Phoenix Mountain.
Along the way, he felt no divine sense locking onto him, but the faint, terrifying aura lingering in the air weighed heavily on his heart.
Fortunately, despite a few scares, he reached the foot of Fallen Phoenix Mountain without incident.
