"Time" had given Du Yu no answer, but "Sage" had.
Before long, "Sage" had assigned everyone their roles. This was a thoroughly melodramatic plan to come between a couple.
It had to be said that the mission sounded incredibly slapdash.
Du Yu knew that even if "Sage" had lived through different experiences, they should still think alike. He would never hold such a perfunctory planning meeting himself. "Sage" had to be plotting something.
During the meeting, Xiao Nian also asked "Sage" why they were still using a Portal when they had a Descent Device.
"Sage" gave a simple answer: the Portal was faster. The Descent Device only needed to handle monitoring. He would watch the screen to make sure Du Yu's future did not change.
"If everyone understands the objectives, split up and get ready," "Sage" said. "A Can, A Kui, A'jiao, and Jin Jianglang, stay behind. I have something to discuss with you."
Everyone went their separate ways, returning to their rooms to prepare supplies.
A Can, A Kui, Jin Jianglang, and Xie Yujiao sat down, looking somewhat puzzled.
"What is it?" Jin Jianglang asked.
"Sage" took a deep breath and slowly said, "I have another mission for the four of you. Not everyone needs to know about this, so I chose you four."
The four exchanged glances, their expressions turning serious.
"Brother Sage, what is it? Whatever you ask of us, we'll brave boiling water and raging fire," A Can vowed.
"Sage" seemed to have made a momentous decision. Only after a long silence did he slowly speak:
"I want you to... kill my past self."
"What?!" the Shame and Guilt Brothers exclaimed. Xie Yujiao looked puzzled, while Jin Jianglang's expression was icy.
"A Can, A Kui, remember? You owe me a favor. It's time to repay it."
