Du Yu persuaded Xingtian to help Houtu and recruited him into the Eight Directions Ghost Record, then devised a plan to reunite his soul with his body. In the Yellow Emperor’s camp, the Shame and Guilt Brothers secretly teleported Xingtian’s body away while a staged argument distracted the patrol.

• Du Yu told Xingtian how Houtu had suffered over the five thousand years and convinced him to help, though Xingtian could not imagine how to rise without a head.
• Du Yu realized a plan, confirmed Xingtian’s willingness, and made him one of the eight directional evil ghosts guarding the Gate of Life.

The final two, “Longing” and “Reluctance,” appeared as a red-clad girl riding a giant white wolf approached, leaving the group facing an unexpected form of danger.

After Shiranui Asuka snapped Du Yu out of the wolf’s influence with a slap, he called for reinforcements and devised a bold idea to wake the Queen Mother.

• The Queen Mother of the West identified the girl in red and the white wolf as intelligent thread spirits, and Shiranui Jinkuro warned that their auras were longing and reluctance.

• Houtu found Du Yu's heart meridians were in disarray after he took Xingtian into his body, and she carried him to Mount Unreturning while the Queen Mother of the West went to seal the two Legends.
• Houtu and the Queen Mother of the West noticed that Du Yu's Elder Era aura was far stronger than that of the others who had returned from the Legend.

Du Yu and Sage met in Time’s domain, where Time proposed a speed contest in the upcoming Legends to settle their conflict. Du Yu woke in Houtu’s Cave Abode after more than half a month unconscious, learned how badly Xingtian’s power had injured him, and set out for the Legend Management Bureau.

• Time stopped Du Yu and Sage from attacking each other and proposed that they compete by completing separate Super Grade A Legends as quickly as possible.

• Du Yu and the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage discovered they were standing on a moving giant sea turtle, and the turtle asked where they wanted to go.
• Du Yu told Baxia to take them somewhere entertaining and promised to pay with spirit stones, despite Shiranui Jinkuro questioning why they were not focusing on the legend.
