Li Ping'an and Old Ox sat on a huge rock, holding pancakes wrapped around scallions.
Together with the warm sunshine, it was wonderfully comfortable.
Wash the scallions, dip them in sweet sauce and soybean paste, then wrap them in freshly cooked pancakes to eat.
One bite brought a pungent heat mingled with the flavor of the sweet sauce.
The scallions here were especially thick and long, each as big as a rolling pin.
A bite was both spicy and sweet, crisp and delicious.
"Crunch, crunch~"
"Old Ox, are we lost?" Li Ping'an asked as he ate.
"Moo~"
Old Ox rolled his eyes at him. What kind of question was that?
What did he mean, were they lost? They were definitely lost!!
"You have the nerve to say that," Li Ping'an grumbled.
In a few bites, he polished off the pancake in his hand.
Then he took out his wine flask and gulped down a mouthful.
He let out a long breath. "Phew~"
Old Ox then said he reckoned they were not far from a town.
Li Ping'an looked around.
"Jingle, jingle~"
Camel bells rang out, and judging by the sound, there seemed to be quite a few of them.
A caravan of merchants soon appeared at the end of the road, heading their way.
"Oh~ We've found people."
Li Ping'an brightened.
He liked traveling merchants best, because they were sure to have goods with them, and he could trade things for them.
Li Ping'an and Old Ox sat off to the side, waiting for the merchants to approach.
They could hear their loud work chants from far away.
Several dark-skinned men led horses at the front.
The spot where Li Ping'an sat was close to a mountain spring, a good place to rest.
Naturally, the merchants stopped there to rest
