The First-Level Hub Center.
Zheng Changwen stood before the hall, watching the bustling crowd.
He listened to reports from every quarter. Normal. Everything was normal.
There was nothing unusual.
Yet he remained uneasy, finding not the slightest reassurance in any of the reports.
What was going on? Was he really overthinking things?
Zheng Changwen paced aimlessly, seemingly noticing his subordinates' strange looks.
He forced down his doubts and sat.
Someone brought him tea, and he took a small sip.
Just then, Zhao Ling'er stepped forward and casually remarked,
"Mr. Qianlong seems to have been gone for quite some time."
Zheng Changwen checked the time. An hour had passed.
Why had that fellow Qianlong been gone so long?
But on further thought, if the two sides had important matters to discuss, an hour was hardly anything.
Zheng Changwen walked into the courtyard behind the hall.
Suddenly, his figure flickered into the center of the courtyard.
The torrential rain fell upon him.
An eerie scene flashed past, as though nothing had happened.
Yet it was like a huge boulder crashing into his already unsettled heart lake, sending up countless splashes and ripples.
The aura was wrong!!
Some extremely subtle change had occurred in the surrounding aura, so subtle that even he found it extraordinarily difficult to detect.
He gazed at the rain, yet seemed not to see it.
Had he not been a Legalist School cultivator with exceptionally powerful divine sense, he would never have noticed that minute change.
He lightly stamped his foot.
"Thud-!!"
With a muffled boom, the raindrops falling throughout the courtyard were pulverized, radiating outward from where he stood.
A powerful surge instantly drove all the wind and rain away.
"Drip!"
Just then, a cool raindrop landed on his face.
Another landed on the back of his neck.
