As they walked out of the Great Hero Hall, Dongxu Zi led the way, Ouyang followed in the middle, and a great crowd of bald heads trailed behind Ouyang.
Countless burning gazes made Ouyang's back prickle as though needles were stabbing it. Stiffly, he turned to look at the dozens of bald heads behind him.
The bald heads behind him all put on fake smiles they considered friendly. Both sides felt awkward.
One was being tailed by a crowd of bald heads and felt no sense of security behind his back.
The other had to follow such an unreliable Holy Son. They felt that the fate of Buddhism's Eastward Journey was simply a leaf adrift in wind and rain!
Ouyang stiffly turned his head back, glanced at the Twelfth Grade Merit Golden Lotus perched above his head like a giant light bulb, and twitched his lips. Quickening his stride, he caught up with Dongxu Zi and said with feigned nonchalance, "Speaking of which, my martial uncles really are badass. Three Buddha Venerables!"
Hearing Ouyang's words, Dongxu Zi paused, then drew a deep breath and said, "Are they? So what? They still can't beat me!"
Was that something a human would say?
Three Buddha Venerables couldn't beat you, Dongxu Zi, alone?
Did you really think you were an Immortal?
Ouyang looked around at the Buddhist Temples and lowered his voice. "Old man, you're really that unconcerned?"
Dongxu Zi stopped and turned to look at Ouyang. His blue-green robe looked somewhat illusory beneath the Buddha Light, and that sense of unreality momentarily dazed the Peak expert before him.
He raised the Whisk in his hand, and a barrier appeared around the two of them out of thin air.
The monks following close behind stopped, exchanging bewildered looks, unsure what was happening.
