Feeling that his success was already assured, Hui Zhi rejoiced inwardly. He had never imagined that the person who trusted him most would be Patriarch Bodhidharma, the first abbot, who had long since entered nirvana!
His path was right after all, and his Buddha truly was Buddha!
But when Hui Zhi, brimming with joy, sought to break through to the Tribulation Transcendence Stage in one fell swoop, he saw a sight he had never witnessed before, one that overturned everything he had worked toward in his entire life!
To bring one's path to fruition, one had to deduce how that path would continue.
When Mahayana Realm cultivators broke through to Tribulation Transcendence, they would all deduce their paths through Heaven and Earth, yet Hui Zhi discovered that his path had no way forward at all.
In other words, he would lead Buddhism as it stood sliding all the way into the abyss!
It would be no exaggeration to say that this had nearly shattered the Dao Heart of this heaven-favored prodigy.
