From December 7, 2022, to today, it had been just over a year.
I originally hadn't wanted to say anything. Saying too much would only make me seem a little melodramatic.
But if I said nothing, you really would think I'd botched the ending!
So there were a few things I had to tell you all.
From the start of this book until now, Ouyang's story as the Eldest Senior Brother had been fully told.
If I kept writing, it would stray from the central idea of this book.
After all, a plot without Eldest Senior Brother Ouyang would feel rather bland.
So bringing it to an end became inevitable...
As for this book, its performance was the best of anything I'd written in all my years of writing.
And I really hadn't expected that, aside from taking one day off each month, I'd actually keep up steady updates for an entire year!
For someone with terminal laziness like me, that really was cause for celebration!

Secondly, this book really did perform well. Lots of people urged me not to end it, saying I could pad out a chapter every few days and keep coasting along for the money.
But if I kept writing, it really would feel like I was milking you all for cash.
If I wanted to pad things out, I could spin out another new story.
But I kept feeling that doing so would be disrespectful to both this book and all of you.
I rarely asked for gifts or anything, since I was a bit socially anxious, so I never set up a fan group either and interacted with you all a little less. (Actually, real life was just far too busy.)
