Lin Luoyu gripped Azure Darkness, sensing the sword intent it held in check.
She listened to Cangjian's words beside her ear—"Try it."
Her initially calm heart began to stir. She exerted a little strength, only to discover that Azure Darkness remained utterly unmoved.
So Lin Luoyu let go.
To Cangjian, it looked as though Lin Luoyu had given up without even trying.
He immediately asked, "Do you know whose sword this is?"
"I do." Lin Luoyu gazed appreciatively at Azure Darkness. "Senior Bai's."
Cangjian demanded, "Then you should understand how precious this sword is. In all these years, you're the only person Azure Darkness hasn't rejected!"
Lin Luoyu shook her head slightly. "I'm not the one Azure Darkness is waiting for. It doesn't want to come with me."
"Never mind spiritual power—you didn't even use any strength!" Cangjian laughed in exasperation. An opportunity countless people could only dream of seemed utterly dispensable to this girl. He continued trying to persuade her:
"Put some strength into it. If that really doesn't work, use a little spiritual power. Spirit swords are all like this. They play hard to get for a bit, then they'll come with you."
Lin Luoyu gently brushed the sliver of Azure Darkness's exposed blade.
"This sword isn't... It will only ever have one master. If I tried to possess it by force too, I'd no longer be that one exception."
"Though I haven't seen much of its story with Senior Bai, I understand that Azure Darkness isn't waiting for someone new. It has always been waiting for Senior Bai."
Cangjian fell speechless for a moment at her words and studied Lin Luoyu's expression closely. He had once tried to draw Azure Darkness himself, yet he had never so much as touched its hilt.
*What nonsense about waiting for
