Outside Right Sound Temple on the Western Ox-He Continent, before the Universal Deliverance River.
The river stretched ten thousand miles to the sea, and its waters also marked the boundary between Central Province and the Western Ox-He Continent.
East of the Universal Deliverance River lay Central Province, while the Western Ox-He Continent lay on the other side.
Most people could no longer remember what this great river had originally been called. They only knew that the Buddhist Sect had later renamed it.
Across this great river from Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple, the nearest sect was the Central Province Buddhist Sect.
The name meant that once one crossed this river, universal deliverance was close at hand.
Yet the river's water veins surged fiercely, and submerged rocks abounded. Even large ships sometimes struggled to cross safely, with countless cases of capsizing. Over time, no ordinary mortals' vessels traveled this great river anymore.
If any vessels did sail it, they belonged to cultivators merely enjoying some leisure.
Though called the Universal Deliverance River, it could hardly deliver ordinary people. Most who could cross it were no ordinary mortals either.
"Bai Xuanling, why are you blocking me here?"
A Buddha gazed calmly at the white-robed woman standing quietly above the raging river.
Bai Xuanling answered calmly, "What do you mean, blocking you? Is someone of your caliber even worthy of me coming to block you?"
The Buddha wore a golden kāṣāya. Behind him, Arhats and Bodhisattvas displayed their divine abilities, with a sea of golden auspicious clouds blotting out the sky and sun, seemingly stretching ten thousand miles.
Yet those ten thousand miles of auspicious clouds were now blocked by a single person.
