In his daze, Eros suddenly felt someone speaking to him.
"Hey! You, descendant! Wake up! Come on, wake up!"
Eros opened his eyes groggily and saw a delicate, pretty face right in front of him.
He snapped fully awake and quickly scanned his surroundings, only to find that he was still in the familiar Gray Mist Space.
He immediately planted his hands behind him and scrambled backward on all fours, putting plenty of distance between them. Holy crap, the tentacle monster turned into a pretty girl!
Could that creepy thing actually detect other people's kinks?
Eros blushed, his voice trembling a little. "You're that tentacle monster, aren't you? Don't think I'll let my guard down just because you've turned into a pretty girl."
The black-haired girl wrinkled her delicate little nose in annoyance. "Is that any way to speak to your elder? How could someone as great as me possibly be a tentacle monster?"
Eros eyed the black-haired girl before him with some suspicion.
She was undeniably beautiful. Every feature on her delicate little face seemed painstakingly sculpted by the Creator. She wore a black dress in what his previous world called the Gothic style, leaving her smooth calves bare.
Seeing him look her over like that, the black-haired girl snorted. "You impudent descendant."
Still a little uncertain, Eros asked, "You really aren't that tentacle monster?"
The black-haired girl planted both hands on her hips and declared proudly, "Listen well, descendant. Standing before you is the master of shadows, the eye of truth that sees through all illusions, the supreme being who can plunge all things into eternal night, and the most capable aide of the Goddess of the Night."
Only after hearing that long string of introductions did Eros relax. Admittedly, judging by her brainwashing methods alone, his ancestor really did seem like an evil deity.
But surely her subordinate wouldn't kill her descendant, right? Especially not such a pretty girl. Beauty is justice, after all.
He promptly leaned back and crawled over again, lying down at the black-haired girl's feet.
Just as he was about to ask where he was, he suddenly forgot how to say the words on the tip of his tongue.
He froze for a few seconds before the black-haired girl, her little face crimson with mortification and anger, sent him flying with a kick.
Watching Eros fly through the air, she still felt she had not vented enough of her anger. She immediately chased after him, repeatedly kicking him with her smooth little bare foot while muttering nonstop:
"You impudent descendant! You damned descendant! You shameless descendant! You..."
"Stop kicking me! Stop!"
The black-haired girl gave a cold snort. Only then did Eros struggle to his feet, rubbing his sore, freshly kicked body as he asked:
"Where are we?"
The black-haired girl replied irritably, "Your own soul world. Why are you asking me?"
Eros froze. "You're saying this is my soul world?"
"What else would it be?" The black-haired girl rolled her eyes. When someone was beautiful, even rolling her eyes looked cute.
Eros stared blankly for a moment, then could not help turning his head aside to stop looking at her. "Then how did you get in?"
"I was asleep, but that one from the Elf Race suddenly descended and woke me up."
"Then I discovered that you actually carried my master's aura, so I was going to observe you for a while."
"But then I saw that stupid book trying to place a soul curse mark on you. You looked so miserable that I kindly lent you a hand."
With that, the black-haired girl brought her delicate little face close to Eros's and studied him suspiciously.
"How strange. Where did you get my master's aura?"
Looking at that pretty face so close to his, at her fair, fine skin, Eros leaned back a little. His face flushed as he answered with an unrelated question:
"Are you the Eye of Eternal Night?"
It was easy enough to guess. After all, when the black-haired girl had introduced herself earlier, had she not called herself the eye of truth that saw through all illusions?
She was also his ancestor's most capable aide. At present, what else in the family could qualify as aides except those three divine artifacts?
As for why a divine artifact could turn into a person, all those novels he had read in his previous life had not been for nothing.
The black-haired girl before him was probably something like an artifact spirit. A divine artifact having an artifact spirit was perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with that at all.
