The four of them immediately paled and turned toward the voice. Spirit gathered in their hands, forming four spells that flew toward its source.

Eros watched the four spells hurtling toward him, feeling rather helpless.

He had only intended to watch the drama quietly from the sidelines. He hadn't expected it to end up involving his own people, leaving him no choice but to interject with a question.

He immediately tapped a finger forward and cast Shadow Exile!

He wasn't worried that using shadow magic would expose his identity, because he was currently acting under the identity of a Night Remnant.

As long as he didn't expose his identity as Eros, what did the affairs of the Night Remnants have to do with him, an heir to the elven bloodline?

Even if word of tonight's events got out, the Church would only learn that there was a Night Remnant near Intiles.

But weren't there already Night Remnants near Intiles? Weren't they still being hunted?

Back in the present, the moment Eros cast his spell, the four attacks rushing straight at him vanished into thin air.

He was just about to tell them to stop when a fair, delicate fist appeared before his eyes.

The instant Natalia saw the spells fail, she had darted in front of Eros and thrown a punch at his forehead.

Not to be outdone, the muscular man raised his leg and kicked at Eros's waist. Watching the incoming punch and kick, Eros sighed inwardly.

He caught the fair-skinned fist and pulled it toward him. His right leg struck first despite moving later, landing squarely on the muscular man's chest and sending him flying.

Immediately afterward, he cast Night Binding.

The next second, dozens of ink-black shadow tentacles emerged from the darkness and bound all four of them tightly in place.

Looking at the four people he had restrained, Eros rubbed his forehead.

Seriously? Didn't they check their opponent's strength before attacking? They just charged right in?

How did a mere three Sequence 8s and one Sequence 9 dare attack someone with two buffs and three pieces of divine gear?

Speechless as he was, he still had business to attend to, so he glanced down at the woman in his arms.

Then his eyes were dazzled by the glimpse of radiant white flesh squeezed out of her neckline as her chest pressed tightly against him.

Honestly, what strong, hot-blooded young man could withstand a test like this? Unless he...

Eros could guarantee that he hadn't done it on purpose. It really was an instinctive bodily reaction.

Natalia, who had been struggling nonstop, seemed to sense something. Her body stiffened, and she no longer dared to move.

Her gaze, however, was filled with humiliation, anger, and murderous intent. Looking at the woman in his arms, whom he had met once before, Eros gave a light cough and said awkwardly:

"Sorry!"

Below them, Ayesha, who was restrained by chains, glared furiously at the mysterious figure on the tree trunk, his face obscured by the darkness. She clenched her teeth and forced out:

"You damned bastard, let go of my mother!"

Now it was Eros's turn to be surprised. Looking at the woman in his arms, he said in astonishment:

"I thought you were her sister!"

Natalia said nothing, merely continuing to stare at Eros with that icy gaze.

For some reason, the sight suddenly brought out Eros's mischievous streak.

He reached out, caught Natalia's fair chin, and slowly tilted it up. Then he leaned closer and, as a prank, licked her exquisitely beautiful face, deliberately making a loud slurping sound.

Feeling the wet touch against her cheek, Natalia twisted her face as far away as she could, her expression full of disgust. After licking her, he looked at Ayesha on the ground and let out a booming, villainous cackle:

"Hehehehe! See? I'm not letting go. I even licked her!"

Come to think of it, he suddenly felt that his current appearance and behavior really did resemble those perverted villains who never survived past the third episode.

Ayesha was beside herself with anger. She kept repeating, "You, you, you," but couldn't get anything else out.

Looking at the little face that had grown a little rounder thanks to his feeding, Eros chuckled and said:

"All right, I'll stop teasing you!"

With that, he lifted his arm and tossed Natalia down beside Ayesha. By now, Natalia's mind was a complete mess.

Remembering what Eros had just done to her made goosebumps rise all over her body.

Eros paid no further attention to the changes in Natalia's expression. He casually sat down on the tree trunk and said:

"I only wanted to ask you a question. Was there any need to take things this far?"

The muscular man snorted. "We won't tell you Church lackeys anything."

Seeing the same resolute expression on the other three faces, Eros clicked his tongue and said:

"You won't tell Church lackeys anything, but I'm not with the Church."

All four froze for a moment, staring in astonishment at the mysterious figure whose face and form they couldn't make out:

"You're not from the Three Great Churches?"

Eros rubbed his chin and asked doubtfully, "Can't you tell from my spells?"

Hearing that, the four carefully examined the pitch-black tentacles wrapped around them. Their expressions immediately changed.

"You're a Night Remnant?"

Eros narrowed his eyes. He didn't particularly like the word "remnant," but he still said cheerfully:

"Correct, but there's no prize."

The four exchanged glances, their expressions turning bitter. Their group had only just decided to kill a Night Remnant, yet they had already fallen into one's hands. They had even been planning how to kill him right under his nose.

Honestly, this was rather awkward. The muscular man stiffened his neck and bluntly asked, "What do you want?"

"I just wanted to ask about what you said earlier, about the Church hunting a Night Remnant over the past few days."

The four were somewhat stunned by his words. Wasn't he the one the Church was hunting? Why was he asking them instead?

Since it didn't involve anything they couldn't divulge, and could even cause trouble for the Church, they naturally had no reason to hold anything back.

After hearing their explanation, Eros understood what had happened.

It had started roughly a week ago, in another city not far from the Imperial Capital.

Apparently, one of his clansmen had exposed their identity for some reason, attracting pursuers, and had now fled to the vicinity of the Imperial Capital.

Once the muscular man finished speaking, Eros narrowed his eyes.

Normally, unless they were absolutely certain they could escape, someone fleeing for their life wouldn't head toward a place where other clansmen were staying.

Unless there was a message or an item that absolutely had to be delivered, forcing them to risk dragging the other clansmen into danger to pass it on.

At that thought, he lost all desire to waste any more time with the people before him.

He casually plucked a leaf from the tree beside him and flicked it toward Natalia as he spoke:

"I'm quite interested in your plan to steal that Sealed Artifact. If you're short a player for your five-person team, you can bring me along for the fun. Who knows? I might even be able to help."

"As for contacting me, just inject Spirit into the leaf when the time comes. I'll know where you are and head over."

"That's all for today. My neighbor's wife is about to give birth, so I need to hurry back."
