Klauthsura's plan was simple and clear.
Since Balin still held the Mind Ripper, the vast army of servants in the Mind Flayer nest would no longer be a home-field advantage. Instead, it would become a liability.
Freed from Mind Control, those slaves would fall into chaos and might even turn on their former masters.
Not only that, but the Mind Flayers in the nest would also lose the Elder Brain's real-time orders once their mental connection was severed.
Judging by the battle at New Rolling Stone City, Mind Flayers cut off from the Elder Brain were not puppets with no fear of death. Although they would still carry out its established strategy, they could also assess the situation.
If their position became untenable, the Mind Flayers would choose to preserve their own lives.
The atmosphere was somewhat somber. The tall Mind Flayer was using the crystal ball in its hand to check whether the coordinates remained stable, then turned to reassure the others:
"Do not despair. The Elder Brain's psionics may be powerful, but it currently needs to devote most of its attention to breaking down the magical barrier of Gattholex, the Lightless Decay."
"I believe that legendary dragon is not entirely oblivious to the outside world. Once the Elder Brain divides its psionic power, the Deep Dragon, notorious for its cunning, will surely strike back at the Elder Brain trying to enslave it."
Klauthsura reached out and opened a psionic portal. Arcs of electricity flickered around the glowing gateway.
"Following my planned route at your normal pace, you should need roughly five to seven full days. I hope you will depart within three hours. Otherwise, to arrive late, fail at the final hurdle, and die at the enemy's hands would be rather absurd..."
The campfire had long since gone
