Renato had fought Mind Flayers more than once, and those warriors with their psionic Wrist Blades had left a deep impression on him.
Their fighting style differed completely from that of ordinary spellcasters. Rather than repositioning and controlling their opponents with spells, they preferred closing the distance and attacking in melee.
Yet they differed from traditional warriors as well. Shields surrounded them, and their attacks were often interspersed with psionic spells, making them exceedingly difficult to defend against.
