Facing Olivia's attack, Miriam's phantom raised her staff and traced an arc before her. A shield of rapidly spinning wind rose in front of her, blocking both bolts of lightning.
The lightning exploded against the wind shield in a shower of sparks. Ripples spread across its surface, but it did not break.
Then Miriam's phantom swept her staff backhanded. A mass of blue-green light flared at its tip, and dozens of wind blades shot toward Olivia like a torrential downpour. Their edges gleamed pale blue, sharp enough to slice through steel.
"As expected of a figure from history. This really is getting interesting."
The corner of Olivia's mouth lifted slightly, and she began darting through the night sky.
As she shifted positions, she pulled the trigger again and again, firing bolts of lightning at Miriam's phantom from different angles. Some flew straight, others curved, and some even turned in midair to attack from unexpected directions.
Miriam's phantom refused to be outdone. She thrust her staff into the storm domain before her, and an enormous tornado slowly formed beside her, scattering, twisting, and redirecting every bolt that came her way.
At the same time, several smaller tornadoes rose from the storm domain beneath her feet. They circled her like patrolling guards, keeping out any lightning that tried to approach.
Olivia unleashed her domain at full power as well, and the glare of lightning split the Imperial Capital's darkness.
At that moment, their domains finally collided in full force.
The lightning domain and storm domain ate into each other, pressing against one another. Along the boundary where the two forces met, countless tiny spatial fissures tore through the air with piercing shrieks.
Lightning and storm intertwined into a chaotic ocean of energy that engulfed the entire sky.
