Freedom Underground City, Third Defense Zone.
Shrill air-raid sirens tore at everyone's nerves. The stench of smoke and blood was nauseatingly thick in the enclosed space.
A field-grade officer roared, his eyes bloodshot and his voice already hoarse from shouting:
"RPGs in position! Lock on!"
"Damn it! Thermobaric bombs ready! Fire!"
Whoosh!
A BGM-71 TOW antitank missile trailed flame as it struck squarely in the chest of a Heavy Armor Demon Soldier charging forward like a bulldozer.
Boom!
Flames roared like a raging dragon, engulfing the entire intersection.
Two-thousand-degree heat and an overpressure shock wave rippled outward, instantly opening huge cracks in the load-bearing walls on both sides.
"Blew it to pieces! Think our firepower's just for show?"
The gunner hastily wiped the cold sweat from his face and was about to let out a long breath.
The next second, his smile froze.
Through the billowing smoke, two identical Heavy Armor Demon Soldiers trampled over the blasted remains of their own kind and smashed straight through the smokescreen!
Flames still clung to their black carapaces. Their four thick arms swung bone blades as they lunged forward with piercing sonic booms.
Squelch!
The two heavy infantrymen at the front never even screamed before they were cleaved in half, ballistic plates and all. Warm blood splashed straight across the gunner's face.
"Fuck! Do these monsters have their health locked?!"
The gunner lost his nerve on the spot, threw down the launcher, and turned to run.
He had barely taken two steps when the automatically deployed M18 Claymore Mines behind him triggered.
With a muffled bang, thousands of steel balls swept down the corridor in a fan, clattering against the Heavy Armor Demon Soldiers.
Sparks flew everywhere.
But they did not leave so much as a pale mark. They barely scratched them.
This
