The owner of the Breeding Farm nodded with a cigarette between his lips. "Yep. New regulations."
"What do I need to get an approval slip?" Li Wanyun asked blankly.
"That depends on what you're buying the meat for. Most people don't need such huge quantities. If you run a business, take your business license and past transaction records to the Administration for Industry and Commerce, and they'll approve it, of course." The owner made it sound obvious.
Li Wanyun: "..."
The problem was, she had none of those things!
She took a deep breath and tried again. "You need an approval slip for anything over a ton, so can I buy nine hundred kilograms?"
The owner of the Breeding Farm glanced at her, narrowing his eyes slightly.
"What do you need so much meat for?"
"Never mind that. I'll pay market price-no, twenty percent above market price-for nine hundred kilograms. Then help me contact some other breeding farms to buy the same-"
"Young lady," the owner interrupted, "save yourself the trouble. All our meat has already been allocated. The surplus has been bought up, and everything left has already been reserved. If we sell it to you, we won't be able to fulfill our contracts."
She was offering a premium, but nine hundred kilograms of meat wouldn't earn him that much extra.
The cost of breaching his contracts would be far greater.
The owner wasn't stupid. Why would he agree?
Li Wanyun's breathing grew increasingly rapid.
What she had thought was an excellent stockpiling plan had run into trouble right at the start, with buying meat and grain!
She refused to give up and kept rushing from place to place.
If the big breeding farms wouldn't work, what about the smaller ones?
One farm owner said, "Meat? It was all reserved ages ago. Even our upcoming output has been reserved!"
Li Wanyun: "..."
Wait, who on earth bought up every last scrap of stock?
They're leaving a reborn woman with a storage space no way to survive!
Li Wanyun spent an entire day running around, practically wearing her legs down to sticks.
Altogether, she managed to buy two million yuan's worth of goods in dribs and drabs.
She stood in the street, utterly bewildered.
This wasn't how she had imagined things going.
One day, two million.
At this rate, she wouldn't even spend a hundred million before the Apocalypse!
And that two million was a hodgepodge of all kinds of goods. If she bought any single supply in large quantities, she needed an approval slip.
Her only alternative was buying a little at a time from supermarkets and shops.
But even if she ran her legs off, she still wouldn't stockpile enough that way.
"Why? Why did the government suddenly start restricting grain, cooking oil, and meat? Did they discover something?"
"Damn it, how am I supposed to spend my five billion?!"
She paced in several circles.
Whatever the reason behind the government's grain restrictions, she couldn't spare it any attention now.
She had only one urgent priority-
Stockpile, stockpile, stockpile!
But right now, she had no way to stockpile goods from the market.
On the screen was the street outside the hotel.
Li Wanyun alternated between standing and squatting, clearly agonizing over her dilemma.
Hao Jingye couldn't help remarking, "How could she possibly stockpile five billion yuan's worth of goods?"
Never mind that the government was gathering grain and other supplies.
Five billion had enormous purchasing power. Spending it all would have a considerable impact. There was no way the government wouldn't notice.
Sheng An said nothing.
Both of them had anticipated this outcome.
Just then, on the screen-
Li Wanyun suddenly stopped and raised her head.
She seemed to have thought of a solution. Her eyes instantly brightened, gleaming in the darkness.
She murmured, "If I can't buy anything here, I'll have to go abroad..."
Right, I can buy grain overseas!
The government was regulating the domestic market, but things were different abroad. There were farmers, as well as the Black Market, where anything could be bought.
She had already planned to go abroad to stockpile some weapons.
Now she could stockpile grain, meat, and other supplies at the same time!
A smile returned to Li Wanyun's face.
She had known that, with a second chance at life, there was no way she would be unable to do anything.
How could such a minor problem stop her?
The arrogance returned to Li Wanyun's face.
Meanwhile-
Sheng An took off her headphones and looked at Hao Jingye, her voice calm. "The fish has taken the bait. Arrange for her to go abroad. As soon as possible."
Once she had confirmed that Li Wanyun's storage space was truly enormous, she had planned to send her overseas.
This was the role she had planned for Li Wanyun.
Hao Jingye froze.
Then realization dawned. "Sister Sheng, you want her to help buy supplies overseas?"
He drew in a sharp breath and murmured,
"That makes sense. There are only twenty-one days until the Apocalypse. We can't hide our massive overseas purchases. Quite a few countries don't understand why we're doing it, but they still instinctively oppose us... Since Li Wanyun's space can hold so much, she can go out and buy things for us."
But Sheng An shook her head, looking relaxed. "That's only part of it."
Hao Jingye: "?"
He asked blankly, "There are other uses?"
Sheng An smiled meaningfully. "Have you forgotten what Team 0 is doing?"
Hao Jingye: "!"
He froze for a moment, then his eyes widened in shock.
Sheng An was already placing a call.
On the other end, Wan Yuan, who handled communications for Team 0, answered. "Sister Sheng? What made you contact us all of a sudden?"
His breathing was hurried, and he was deliberately keeping his voice low.
"What happened?" Sheng An frowned.
"Well, this shipment of arms is so huge that someone's bound to notice."
Wan Yuan paused, then said with a laugh, "Captain Qi's here. He'll have it handled soon. Wait a moment, Sister Sheng. You can talk to him."
"It's fine. Telling you is the same." Sheng An didn't mind.
"Oh, don't do that," Wan Yuan protested. "Please, have a heart and wait for Captain Qi. Every time you contact us, just a few words from you keep him happy for days. If he doesn't get to talk to you, my life's going to be miserable afterward!"
Wan Yuan sounded thoroughly aggrieved.
Beside her, Hao Jingye looked eager for gossip. Sheng An could only sigh.
She knew that unless Wan Yuan agreed, she couldn't hang up on her end.
Literally couldn't hang up.
That was what came of having a communications specialist with some impressive black technology tricks.
They didn't keep Sheng An waiting long.
An icy voice came through the phone. "Who is it?"
"Captain Qi, it's Sister Sheng!" Wan Yuan chuckled.
The breathing on the other end caught slightly.
Then that icy voice spoke again, much gentler now, low and husky, as though whispering in her ear. "What is it?"
Hao Jingye couldn't help rubbing his cheeks.
Good lord, was this really Captain Qi?!
Sheng An propped her chin on her hand and asked casually, "How are things over there?"
Her manner was unhurried, her tone easy.
Qi Lingwu said softly, "Pretty good."
No sooner had he finished than Wan Yuan muttered in the background, "What do you mean, pretty good? People are chasing us down and cutting us off every day. Getting this shipment of arms home won't be easy..."
Qi Lingwu ignored him and asked Sheng An, "How are things on your end?"
Sheng An smiled. "Pretty good here, too. And I've found you a helper. You won't have to worry about that shipment of arms. We'll be able to bring it home soon."
Before Qi Lingwu could answer, Wan Yuan leaned toward the microphone and raised his voice. "Really?!"
He could barely contain his excitement. "What's your plan, Sister Sheng? This shipment is absolutely enormous. If we weren't here guarding it, someone would have discovered it ages ago. How are you going to transport it home?"
Sheng An stared at the excited Li Wanyun on the screen and slowly said-
"A Spatial Ability User."
Team 0 was stuck in M Country because of a shipment of arms.
A shipment so terrifyingly large that Team 0's mission was to bring back as much as they could before the Apocalypse.
Because of the activity back home, M Country had tightened its inspections recently.
Even Old Zhang had been ready to give up.
Who would have thought...
Just when they needed a helping hand, Li Wanyun had appeared.
The corner of Hao Jingye's mouth twitched.
On the screen, another ten million-plus yuan had been deposited into Li Wanyun's account. Her steps were light, her expression arrogant and pleased.
She had absolutely no idea-
Sheng An had already assigned her the role of international courier.
