After they got into the car.
Sheng An kept replying to messages.
Everyone in the Song Family looked terrified and stayed quiet.
Li Xin could not hold back and wanted to say something, but Li Huai shot him a fierce glare.
He immediately wilted, his head drooping.
Song Linwei felt a headache coming on. He asked Sheng An, "Will the cleanup be difficult? Will this have any negative impact on society?"
That was the basic reaction of a normal person.
A "superpowered person" had suddenly appeared in their family and caused such a commotion, and they still had to live in this residential complex. If the fallout was too serious, the government might not go easy on them.
At his words, Sheng An glanced at him and raised an eyebrow slightly.
He really was a smart man, and unusually good at seeing the bigger picture.
"It's fine. We'll say we were filming something. The information department will handle any videos posted online," Sheng An replied casually.
It really was no big deal.
They had caught Li Xin before he could cause any major trouble. Even if someone posted a video, the information department could deal with it. They had plenty of experience with this sort of thing.
"Even if we say it was filming, won't some people in the complex still suspect something?" Song Linwei's mother asked anxiously.
The filming excuse would fool most people.
But there had been too many witnesses today. Some would have seen everything clearly and refused to believe it.
Still replying to messages, Sheng An answered without looking up, "Then let them doubt it. The government will have to tell the public to prepare for the apocalypse sooner or later. It's not a big problem."
There were only eighteen days left until the apocalypse. They could not keep it secret much longer anyway.
Li Xin, however, was shocked. His voice rose in disbelief. "What? The government is going to tell everyone?!"
He had always assumed the government would keep it from the public.
That was why he wanted to save the world and warn everyone-the apocalypse was coming.
And now she was telling him the government would announce it?
Sheng An was speechless.
She looked up at him, her face expressionless. "Why would the government hide it from the public? Would everyone dying somehow benefit the country? Of course we'll issue an emergency announcement, make arrangements, and find ways to keep more people alive. Kid, stop making up so much nonsense."
Li Xin: "..."
Song Linwei glared at him. Li Xin ducked his head and huddled in his seat.
Song Linwei turned back to Sheng An, looking puzzled. "Why were you here today? Wait, you already guessed Xin was that 'Iron Man'?!"
"It wasn't hard to guess, was it? Only a relative could make a smart man like you go to such lengths to hide something. Everyone in your family is smart except Li Xin. Naturally, he's the only one who would steal a child's Ultraman figurine."
Sheng An paused, then added, "If we hadn't been here today, who knows how much trouble he would have caused? Luckily, we arrived in time."
Song Linwei fell silent too, looking at Sheng An with mixed feelings.
He had thought he had hidden it well, only to discover that she had figured it out long ago!
Of course, Li Xin was also to blame.
Song Linlin looked incredulous. "What? You stole a kid's Ultraman?! When did that happen?"
At that, Li Xin ducked his head.
After mumbling for a while, he said quietly, "He didn't believe in the light. I just wanted to give him a little punishment..."
Li Huai wanted to grab a broom again.
Song Linwei stopped him, his head throbbing. "When I found out he'd also gone into someone else's home, I was worried we wouldn't be able to keep his superpowers hidden. That's why I decided to post online and fish for information."
Because of the meteorite, people had been saying the apocalypse was coming. Li Xin was one of them.
He had even refused to go to school because of it.
Then Li Huai had beaten him and sent him straight back to school.
After Li Xin awakened his ability, he became even more convinced that the apocalypse was coming and that it was time for him to save the world and show what he could do.
Song Linwei could not be sure, so he had decided to cast a line.
To his surprise, they had caught a fish.
Except-it was a shark.
And it had swallowed them all in one bite.
After explaining, he gave Sheng An a cautious glance.
When she showed no reaction, he ventured another question. "So what's the situation now? Xin... what are you going to do with him?"
Sheng An said, "Doesn't he want to save the world? Naturally, he'll save it with us."
She looked up at Li Xin with a faint, ambiguous smile. "Well, kid? How about joining us to save the world?"
Li Xin instinctively lifted his chin, defiance on his face.
He snorted. "You pointed a gun at me. I'm not that easy to-"
Sheng An interrupted him with a slight smile. "I'm informing you, not asking you."
Li Xin: "?"
In disbelief, he nearly jumped out of his seat, raising his voice. "Hey, woman! I'm a superhuman Iron Man! What's with that attitude?"
Sheng An could see his arrogance.
Even after being caught, this brat still thought he was amazing.
Fair enough. He did have "superpowers," after all.
But Sheng An did not like people acting arrogant in front of her.
She raised an eyebrow. "Do you think you're a superhuman with special powers, the chosen one, unlike everyone else?"
Li Xin said nothing, but his chin pointed at the sky.
The Song Family tugged at him, but he refused to budge.
He really was amazing!
If the government wanted to recruit him, it should be friendly and put him on a pedestal. How could it treat him like this?
Especially this woman in front of him. He would make her bow to him!
Sheng An smiled slightly. "Oh, then you're wrong. You're not special at all. You're just a metal-type Superpower Person. When the meteorites arrive, countless Superpower People will emerge around the world."
"The Metal-Wood-Water-Fire-Earth Elements, strength, and speed aren't even the most powerful abilities. There are also Ancestral Reversion and mutations, even spatial, Healing-Type Ability, dark-type abilities, and so on."
Li Xin: "??"
His expression shifted slightly, but he kept his neck stiff. "So what? They haven't appeared yet, have they? I already have superpowers!"
Oh, this brat was pretty quick on his feet.
Sheng An raised an eyebrow. "Who said they haven't appeared? What do you think our Doomsday Special Affairs Office is for? There are plenty of Superpower People besides you. Water types and Fire-Type Ability users have already appeared."
Li Xin remained stubborn. "They're not as strong as me!"
He clenched his fists, clinging to the last of his youthful stubbornness and pride.
Sheng An smiled slightly. "There are quite a few people who've been reborn, too."
Li Xin: "???"
What the hell? There were even people who'd been reborn?!
Didn't that only happen in novels and TV dramas?!
But someone who'd been reborn...
That sounded more like a main character than a Superpower Person, no matter how he looked at it.
Li Xin had to admit it.
"A teammate who joined us a few days ago is called Jiang Yu. She was reborn after living through a year of the apocalypse. She has a very large space, and there's black soil inside where she can grow crops," Sheng An said evenly.
Li Xin: "!!"
Sheng An looked at him, her eyes curving with her smile.
"Oh, and another teammate is called Li Wanyun. She's a reborn spatial-type Superpower Person. Not only does she have an enormous space, she also started with five billion and is currently stockpiling supplies like mad for the government... Besides them, there's another unknown, powerful Superpower Person. Our entire other team has been deployed..."
Crack-
Had something shattered?
Oh, that was the boy's poor pride.
