Amaterasu held a broken sword, his divine robes in tatters.
Stripped of his divine radiance, he showed his mortal side.
Anger gradually consumed his face, twisting his features.
The once-prosperous Capital City had become a wasteland in an instant.
Yet the culprit lay calmly on the ground, a trace of regret on his exhausted face.
"Still couldn't take you down with me."
Overlord sighed.
Even with Tai Sui's strength combined with his, they had fallen one move short.
They had both underestimated Amaterasu's reserves.
He actually possessed two of Kou Island's three sacred treasures. The Eight-Foot Mirror and the Kusanagi Sword had absorbed most of the damage for him.
"For a mortal to wound me this badly, you've done quite well."
Amaterasu's broken sword slowly approached Overlord. "Unfortunately, a soul of the great god Amaterasu resides within me. I am his incarnation in the mortal world. I am a god."
As he finished speaking, a shaft of divine light descended from the sky.
Bathed in that light, Amaterasu's damaged body began to heal.
Divine music rang out across the heavens.
An enormous hand reached out of the volcanic ash that blotted out the sky.
Radiating boundless divine light, the hand dispersed the volcanic ash shrouding all of Kou Island.
Though no one could make out his full appearance, everyone on the island knelt reverently in prayer.
"The great god Amaterasu never abandoned us!"
"Long live the great god Amaterasu!"
The Kou Islanders began to cheer.
High above, a thousand-meter-tall giant leaned down from the clouds.
Divine radiance descended, and flowers sprouted from the scorched earth.
The volcano fell quiet once more.
