"Crack..."
Inside the container, Yun's eyelashes trembled slightly. Tiny cracks spread from a single point, expanding like a spiderweb.
Lou Guanshan withdrew his fist and blew on his hand.
"Got it. As agreed, we'll let you out. After that, we'll each take our chances."
Yun slowly opened her eyes. The two figures were already heading out.
"Don't you... want to break this world as it is?"
Neither stopped. They merely waved and walked into the darkness without answering.
If outsiders who had only just arrived wantonly remade this world simply because they thought something was wrong with it...
Then how would they be any different from those dismissive, arrogant deities who imposed their personal wishes on everyone and forcibly changed the world?
Besides, being saved by others could never compare to struggling for oneself.
Standing up on your own and being helped to your feet were worlds apart.
But...
Kou Ying glanced sideways. The shadow beneath Kou Ying's feet stretched far, gently melting through and devouring the power clinging to the chains where Yun could not see. Then Kou Ying spoke softly.
"If you really need help, we might lend a hand."
After that, only Yun's still-faint breathing remained in the space at the very bottom of the prison.
She raised her head to look at the ubiquitous monitors. Something seemed to have confused them, and they had not sounded an alarm.
There was nothing but the sound of her own breathing.
It was as though those two Scavengers had never appeared.
Yun laughed inwardly. Two scavengers with a little talent, probably yet to see the splendor of the Inner City. Merkel would likely lure them with benefits the moment they met.
Though she was very grateful to them, she had seen this sort of thing far too often.
