The others stared at the data on the display, just as dumbfounded as Uritu.
It was packed full of fruits and vegetables.
"My God! Am I seeing things? Why is it all fruits and vegetables?!"
"My mouth's watering. I haven't eaten any vegetables or fruit in months. It's been awful."
"Is this a prank?"
His companions all urged him to try again.
Uritu tested more than a dozen Space Cards in a row. Every one was filled with fruits and vegetables!
He tried taking something out of a Space Card, and a big, plump, beautiful apple appeared before him, giving off a mouthwatering fragrance.
Everyone burst into an uproar.
"That apple's gorgeous!"
"I heard there's fruit everywhere in City R. I'm so jealous. Other bases can transplant Mutated Fruits trees, but we have such a hard time growing them here."
"There are even vitamin tablets! What a precious gift. Who gave us all this?"
Uritu said he didn't know, but he was deeply grateful. "The children are saved! These fruits and vegetables will last them a long time. Quick, go tell the leaders!!"
Only then did the others snap out of their daze. They licked their lips and grinned. "I'll go, I'll go!!" "The little ones are going to be over the moon!"
Though the adults were craving them too, their first thought was still to give the children priority.
M City really was desperately short of fruits and vegetables. The base's leaders had been trying to find a solution without troubling Headquarters, which already had plenty on its plate.
They were immensely grateful just to have secured support this time, and naturally didn't dare ask for more.
They simply hadn't expected some unknown kind soul to help them.
