In this transaction, each side had a hundred ways to test whether the other was lying or setting a trap, but both ultimately chose civility and restraint. Melon did not suspect Little Bad King of feeding him false information, and Little Bad King did not think that, once he told the truth, Melon would snatch Guo An back and bring the Watchtower Compound's officers to hound him to death.
It was an unspoken understanding. Both could sense that the other wanted to finish this assignment as quickly as possible, without taking any more risks or playing any more tricks. Besides, plenty of "fog" still remained in this Secret Realm, and the end was nowhere in sight. Each thought the other a vile bastard, an animal, and genuinely difficult to handle... so they could afford to hold back for now and preserve their resurrection counts. They could always find another chance to get rich off each other later.
