In a spacious, square room in the underground palace, Ren Ye and the other three cautiously examined a painted pottery figurine.
It stood roughly seven or eight feet tall, and its fired form looked no different from an ordinary person. It had a head, limbs, fingers, toes, and everything else.
The only difference was that it had no face. Its head was perfectly smooth, like a ball, with no intricate carving whatsoever.
The figurine seemed to be covered in unknown pigments, radiating multicolored light. It looked beautiful, but staring at it for even a short while made their hair stand on end and their whole bodies feel uncomfortable.
The figurine stood flush against the northern wall, its feet resting on a round bluestone pedestal.
Aside from the painted figurine, all four walls of the room were engraved with various complex Witchscript inscriptions and murals.
None of the four "present" could read Witchscript, making them no different from illiterates. The murals, however, were somewhat easier to understand.
They examined them carefully and discovered that the murals depicted a great army marching to war. Aside from the sea of soldiers, there were two leaders.
One was an indistinct figure with the sun, moon, mountains, and rivers behind him, facing all living beings. He wore the Dragon Robe, holding a seal in one hand and raising a sword in the other.
Ren Ye took a look and could roughly guess that this was his predecessor, the Ancestor-the Human Emperor himself.
Beside him stood someone in black robes, wearing a crown and holding a scepter. But his face was indistinct, making it impossible to tell whether he was male or female, and staring at him for even a short while made their eyes ache terribly.
