Ren Ye looked toward the stairs and found that the corridor wall blocked his view. He could not see the stairs at all, and the spot where he stood was also a blind spot.
"...This place is pretty out of the way. A good spot to whisper about something big behind people's backs."
Ren Ye withdrew his gaze, checked the scratches on the wall and the dead rat in his palm again, and murmured, "The dust has been rubbed off around the scratches. The rat probably hasn't been dead long, either, or the stink would definitely be stronger."
As he muttered, he deliberately reached out his right hand and kept adjusting his posture to follow the scratches.
After a while, he put the dead rat back inside the hole, smoothly crouched at the foot of the wall, and started writing in his little notebook.
He thought these two pieces of information were relatively important, but they were still far from proving anything, so he merely recorded them for now, habitually organizing his clues.
Once everything was done, he returned to the second floor and entered his own Li Character Room first.
The room was dimly lit. Standing in the doorway, Ren Ye looked up at the four walls, his eyes slowly moving over the irregular smears of blood scattered across them.
He wanted to try to work out the logic behind Song Mingzhe's killings, and he felt that the bloodstains were a good starting point.
Did all eight rooms have the same number of bloodstains? Which had more, and which had fewer? Could there be some logic to their arrangement?
Take it slowly. Be patient...
After examining the Li Character Room, Ren Ye went to the others' rooms.
During the day, the doors to all eight rooms could be opened.
