Clack, clack, clack!

His fingers tapped across the mechanical keyboard as he typed up the information.

Then Yang Jue casually glanced at the robot with its shattered head and extended his left hand. A slender, multifunctional mechanical hand emerged from his palm.

He grabbed the robot's head, extracted a chip from inside, and inserted it into the computer tower.

Buzz!

The screen flickered.

A second later, a gaunt, white-haired old man with slightly pale skin and wrinkles at the corners of his eyes appeared, sitting in a wheelchair and looking lazily at Yang Jue.

Behind him stretched a vast estate.

Water flowed upward in defiance of physics, drifting freely and gracefully through the air beneath the sunlight.

"Another failure, just as I expected. You really are impossible to figure out. I'm curious-how did you discover that your female assistant had been replaced?" the gaunt old man asked in a dull voice, sounding somewhat disappointed.

"...Because she didn't feel human." Yang Jue looked at the leader of the Twin Star Corporation's three hundred-odd underground floors.

"I see. I thought you were a robot yourself, incapable of sensing anything human." The gaunt old man gave a couple of awkward chuckles, a sharp gleam flashing through his eyes.

"You were the one who brought us mechanical and intelligent technology. Why are you so opposed to it?"

Yang Jue shook his head. "I'm not opposed to the technology. I'm opposed to how you use it."

"How we use it...is that so bad?" The gaunt old man sneered. "Should we wait for humanity to go extinct instead?"

"Advanced Aberrants can be communicated with. Even some Great Fiends possess intelligence. They're products of the Heavenly Dao's instability, and living creatures instinctively seek to survive and reproduce. All they're doing now is seeking more room to live."
