The ward was almost excessively clean and tidy, its surroundings so dazzlingly white that they felt unreal.
A woman in a white nurse's uniform stood before him. Seeing that he had woken up, she bent down, pulled the medical chart out from beneath his head, and glanced through it.
Then she murmured, "Mania, delusions, constantly thinks there are ghosts around him. Mistook living people for ghosts and brutally murdered quite a few of them with knives, hammers, and other objects."
"Quite a serious case. Take two tranquilizers first. The rest can wait until the doctor arrives."
The nurse then took a medicine bottle from an iron tray beside her, handed Jiang Chen a paper cup of water, and shook out two white pills into his palm.
"Take them!" she ordered.
