The third floor.
A little girl in a hospital gown, yawning nonstop, suddenly brightened. Footsteps sounded in the stairwell, as though someone was coming.
"Finally, finally! All that damn waiting wasn't for nothing!"
"Which unlucky bastard is coming up?"
"Big Fool, hide properly. Don't give us away..."
The number on the little girl's chest was 04. She was hiding behind one of the doors to the stairwell, while behind the other stood a burly man a full two meters tall with a wooden expression.
The burly man looked strange. Dense patches of centipede-like stitches covered his body, as though his limbs had once been chopped apart and pieced back together.
He also wore a hospital gown, numbered 06.
The two waited in breathless silence. The little girl held a gleaming, sharp knife behind her back, her sweet smile making her look utterly harmless.
The burly man held a length of stainless steel pipe, seemingly snapped off in the toilet. Rust mingled with bloodstains on it, giving off a foul smell.
"Same as always. The second he shows his head, strike and bash his brains out. One bang, and red and white splattered all over the floor. Hehehe!"
No. 04 smiled happily, looking just like an innocent little girl who had been given a piece of candy.
Yet the words coming out of her mouth were chilling.
Fortunately, the burly man felt no fear. His eyes were wooden, long since devoid of all life. He seemed to be nothing more than a puppet, and nodded cooperatively at her words.
The footsteps drew closer, little by little.
The little girl's expression grew increasingly tense, tinged with an utterly sick elation. She gripped her knife tightly, ready to strike at any moment.
But suddenly...
The footsteps receded again.
``` "No. 04 grew puzzled.
