It was eight in the evening, and Song Xiaotian still wasn't answering his phone.
The three of us couldn't sit still anymore.
"Something's happened. Something's definitely happened!"
Meng Yifan looked frantic. "If even someone as ferocious as him has run into trouble, who the hell went after him? He couldn't have..."
I glared at Meng Yifan, telling him not to jinx it.
"Let's find him. What's the use of panicking?" Zhao Laoqi stood up, looking worried too.
He might have been petty, but with Song Xiaotian in trouble, he was just as worried as we were.
"Where do we look? We don't know where he ran into trouble," Meng Yifan said.
Zhao Laoqi thought for a moment. "Didn't he go to the school to investigate? Then we'll have to check there first."
I told Meng Yifan to go to the teahouse to find Song Xiaotian's father, while Zhao Laoqi and I went to the school.
Time wouldn't wait. None of us wanted anything to happen to Song Xiaotian, so we immediately closed the shop and got ready to look for him.
But just as we locked the shop door, Song Xiaotian sent me a text.
"Something came up on my end. Don't call me. I found He Tao's girlfriend. Her name is Su Qian. Apartment 402, Unit 3, Building 24, Chaoge Residential Community, 347 Wannian Road."
Seeing the message and who had sent it, all three of us felt a weight lift and let out a long sigh of relief.
The guy was all right!
"Fuck, would it kill him to text us sooner?"
Meng Yifan couldn't help cursing. "We called so many times, and he took this long to text back!"
"As long as he's okay," I said. "Maybe something unexpected happened over there, and he couldn't text back."
