That morning, we all came to the shop.
After some discussion, I took out my phone and dialed Wang Guofu's number.
The phone rang several times before Wang Guofu answered.
"Who is this?"
"Hello, Master Wang. Someone referred me to you. I'd like your help changing my luck."
There was a stretch of silence on the line.
"Hello. Who referred you?"
Wang Guofu was rather cautious.
I said, "Liu Jing referred me. She's my older cousin. She told me before that you were a real expert. I run a business, but business has been tough lately, and my financial luck hasn't been great either, so I wanted you to take a look."
Mentioning Liu Jing was actually a big risk.
After all, Wang Guofu was the one who had caused Liu Jing's death. Pretending to be her relative could very easily arouse his suspicions.
But if we made up someone at random as my referral, and Wang Guofu happened to remember every one of his clients, my cover would be blown immediately.
So we simply took the opposite approach and said I was Liu Jing's relative. Such a risky move might actually make him think there was nothing suspicious about me.
He fell silent again on the phone, then said, "Liu Jing, Ms. Liu. I remember her now. How has she been lately?"
The old fox was testing me again.
I answered truthfully, "Ah, she's passed away."
He sounded startled. "Passed away? How could that be? When I saw her before, I didn't notice any signs of illness."
I sighed. "Suicide. My cousin had depression. She couldn't see a way out, so she killed herself."
Wang Guofu offered a few polite words over the phone, telling me I had his condolences, then asked, "What sort of business do you run?
