"All right, now that I've said all that, at least you'll know why you're dying."
Du Yunting looked at the people from the organization and sneered. "I used to think your organization was incredibly powerful, too, and not to be crossed lightly. But now I've realized you're really just a rabble. These are all the tricks you have."
"You're wary of the law, too. You're afraid of the police, too."
"Think about it carefully. How impressive can people who get brainwashed really be? To put it bluntly, you're a bunch of idiots with no minds of your own, who only know how to risk your lives for others."
"You're nothing special after all."
With that, Du Yunting waved a hand. "Kill them all. Take them to the crematorium in town and have them all cremated before dawn. Don't leave any traces."
What followed was somewhat brutal.
Song Xiaotian and I went straight into another room and shut the door.
But even with the door shut, the screams and pleas for mercy still reached us.
We smoked, both looking utterly grim.
Especially when we thought back to how all of us had reacted after Du Yunting got into trouble. The more we recalled, the more we felt like idiots.
Fuck!
This was so humiliating.
We'd made complete and utter fools of ourselves.
"I can already picture the Seventh Master laughing at us."
Song Xiaotian gazed out the window at a forty-five-degree angle, his face full of undisguised humiliation.
When we went back later and An Ning asked how things had gone, I would be too embarrassed to tell her the truth.
By then, the sounds outside had grown much quieter.
Song Xiaotian and I opened the door and walked out, and a pungent stench of blood hit us in the face.
