As though gathering her words, Eve slowly began:
"We found things the Buddhas had used, along with a Jade Slip. The Jade Slip recorded that there were actually many Buddhas in this world."
Eve sighed and turned toward the black-and-red door:
"As the climate changes grew more severe, the abnormalities in people became more obvious. So governments around the world began working together to excavate Buddhist ruins."
"During the excavations, we discovered that they had actually recorded the order in which the disasters would occur in detail, and those records matched reality remarkably well."
"According to the records, people would first become 'demons.' Then monsters and demons would appear throughout the world, and natural disasters would grow even more terrifying. After the three calamities, Demon King Mara would descend upon the earth and burn everything."
Monsters and demons? A demon king?
The four exchanged glances. Even He Zheng thought of the monsters they had seen on their way in.
Ye Lin's gaze sharpened. Eve's words also reminded him of the star god demon.
Could the Echo Demon's goal be to release Demon King Mara? Was Mara the star god demon?
"Is Demon King Mara the Sun? Did all those monsters outside appear because of it?"
"Did you end up using Buddhist methods to escape this crisis?"
Ye Lin asked tentatively.
He knew a little about Buddhism, too. In the myths, monsters and demons were Demon King Mara's countless manifestations, while transcendence was Buddhism's ultimate goal.
