The rain poured down, but it could not extinguish their rekindled fighting spirit.
He Zheng wiped the rain from his face and raised his axe, his eyes blazing with excitement.
He was so worked up that he did not even stop to bandage his severed left arm before making to follow Ye Lin in search of that "child."
"Ye Lin! Where are we going now? The hospital or somewhere else?"
There was only an hour left before the second round of pursuit began. He was not afraid of risking his life. What frightened him was the thought that nothing he did would help, that he could find no way to survive.
But now that he knew what they needed to do to survive, he would brave even a mountain of blades or a sea of fire.
"The military base!"
Without a moment's hesitation, Ye Lin told everyone to follow him and rushed toward the heavy truck.
He Zheng instinctively followed, but the words "military base" left him bewildered.
"Ye Lin! Aren't we going to the hospital? Aren't we looking for an unborn baby? That place...?"
"That's the only place one could be. It couldn't survive anywhere else!"
Before Ye Lin could answer, An Ke climbed aboard and quickly grabbed the door to keep herself from falling off at high speed.
"Just drive! We have fifty-eight minutes left. We aren't far away, but if we waste any more time, we'll get caught between attacks from both sides!"
The thunder and rain were too loud. Gripping the handhold at the rear of the truck, An Ke shouted:
"The meme infects everyone who knows about it! The odds of finding a pregnant woman who's both deaf and blind are too small! Even if there is one, she probably wouldn't have survived this long!"
