"The Triangulation Method?"
Mo Li looked at the streaks of water on the table, his expression visibly shifting.
"Heh!"
Jiang Xiaobai continued without stopping. "Another example: suppose you have two gears, one with thirty-seven teeth and the other with fifty-three."
"When the two gears mesh, when will they return to their original positions?"
"That would take some calculation!"
Mo Li spoke.
"Calculation? You can work out the simple ones, but what about the difficult ones?"
Jiang Xiaobai nodded. "For instance, what if we added another gear with ninety-one teeth?"
"Well..."
Mo Li's brows furrowed again, and he sank into thought.
Ninety-one, thirty-seven, fifty-three.
For all three to return to their original positions, he would have to find a common multiple of the three.
But that was no easy calculation.
Especially with Jiang Xiaobai asking so quickly.
Standing nearby, Chang Ying also began calculating silently.
A moment later, however, Jiang Xiaobai spoke. "Don't bother. Even if I gave you half a month, you might not work it out!"
He paused, then continued, "It's one hundred seventy-eight thousand, four hundred fifty-one."
At those words, Mo Li raised his head, his expression visibly changing.
Chang Ying froze outright.
That fast?
Almost as soon as Jiang Xiaobai had asked the question, he had given the answer.
Mo Li looked at Jiang Xiaobai in disbelief. "How did you calculate that, Heir Jiang?"
Rather than answering immediately, Jiang Xiaobai leaned back in his chair and looked at Mo Li. "Brother Mo, let me ask you something else."
"If you wanted to build a Repeating Mechanism Crossbow that automatically cocked the next bolt after every shot, without jamming..."
"What do you rely on now?"
"Well..."
Mo Li replied, "Our mechanism craftsmen keep testing until the bolt groove, string tension, and gears all work together."
"And how long
