After entering the cave, everything seemed to grow dim. It was not simply darkness; rather, it was as though a layer of black mist had shrouded everything before their eyes. You could even stir it with your hand, yet it was endless.
There was no wind in the burrow, but the ink-black mist kept flowing of its own accord. The passage was frozen as hard as steel, droplets hanging overhead had frozen solid, and all manner of corpses lay scattered everywhere along the way. If an ordinary person came here, their first instinct would surely be to scream and run.
But Su Ming merely rested the greatsword on his shoulder and continued downward.
The passage was straight, and they could even see the marks left by iron shovels in the surrounding walls. Small cut surfaces overlapped one after another, spread out like dragon scales.
"They really did this, huh? Digging a tunnel through the permafrost with manpower alone—this must have taken endless painstaking work." Su Ming reached out and touched the wall, then nodded as if in approval. It reminded him of those old Tunnel Warfare movies.
Little Wong had no night vision, so he held up a ball of light as illumination, hopping around among the monster corpses on the ground.
"All these corpses died from gunshots, and not long ago, either. The temperature rises the farther underground we go, so their blood hasn't frozen. Are these giant rats?"
He noticed that the Sorcerer Supreme did not seem to be looking at the corpses, so he took the initiative to explain.
Su Ming was fairly satisfied with Wong's performance. He did not panic at the sight of so many corpses, and his tolerance for disgusting things was quite strong. This was the future.
He patted Wong on the shoulder
