Cloak was naturally very fast. When they returned to New York, the city was still asleep. Deathstroke led Magic Prince straight to a manhole cover in a secluded alley, sending startled rats and cockroaches scurrying back beneath the dumpsters.

"Don't tell me we're going into the sewers again. I just finished soaking in a hot spring."

Watching Su Ming lift the cover, Monark immediately voiced his refusal.

He had finally gotten himself nice and clean, and it had even been a pore-opening hot spring. Crawling into the sewers now would do him no good. The stench would seep deep into his skin.

"No, we're not going in today." Su Ming shook his head and gestured for him to relax. "We're just waiting for someone."

"You said that. If you dare drag me into the sewers by force, I'll die right in front of you." Monark patted his suit sleeve and tugged hard at the hem of his jacket, covering his stomach.

Su Ming sighed, heavy breathing coming from beneath his mask. "Is it really that serious? Since when did you have a germ phobia? You keep so many rabbits that you have to use magic to block your own sense of smell."

"Don't sweat the details." Monark returned Su Ming's earlier words intact. "You said we were waiting for someone. Where are they?"

Su Ming tilted his head, signaling Monark to look to the side. "Right beside us."

Only after Deathstroke pointed it out did Monark spot two bugs nearby in the dim streetlight, apparently flying hand in hand.

It was strange. Even with Magic Prince's vast experience, he could not tell whether the neon lights from the main street had colored them, or whether they really were red-and-black insects with limbs.
