Carol hadn't meant to keep a secret stash. It was just that after signing a contract with Deathstroke, one thing after another had come up, and she had forgotten about the check.

Besides, she had decided to return to the military. What use would she have for money there? She hurried back to her room, took out the check, and handed it to her mother.

He picked up his teacup and silently stared at the Orange Cat on the coffee table. For some reason, the cat had been watching him the whole time, even licking its lips with its little tongue as though it were hungry.
