Many people thought Mutants existed only on Earth, but unfortunately, that was not the case. The Kree had also been one of the Celestials' test subjects long, long ago, and there was not even any reproductive barrier between them and humans.
In other words, the arrangement of their genes was largely the same.
So there were Mutants among them as well, and at one point, there had even been quite a lot of them.
Back then, they had studied the Mutants within their own race and combined that research with experiments on Earth humans to create the weapon race known as the Inhumans.
Kree Mutants all had white skin. Ordinary blue-skinned Kree were considered purebloods and did not carry the Mutant Gene. The Purifier was a product of a genetics lab, making her a special case.
In the past, the Kree Empire had subtly suppressed white-skinned citizens. For example, they would bar them from further promotion once they reached a certain rank, or send them in place of blue Kree to carry out dangerous missions. In truth, they feared the Mutants that might exist among them.
The Kree Queen's methods had been relatively conciliatory. At the time, Kree society had still been able to tolerate the existence of Mutants.
But once the Supreme Intelligence came to power, it regarded all genetic mutations as unstable factors that hindered the development of the species. Kree like Mary, who could awaken abilities, were exterminated even if they remained within the Empire.
The Kree Sentries had originally only been land weapons used by the Supreme Intelligence for war. But because they were often deployed to deal with Kree Mutants fleeing through the universe, Earth's heroes named them "Kree Sentries," since their function was very similar to that of Earth's Sentinel Robots.
