His little gadget worked well, and Pym was a decent inventor too. Before long, he had cut a tiny opening in the missile casing. The two of them were now in the middle section of the missile. Beyond the breach were the unignited second-stage engine and some mechanical components whose purposes were unclear.
There was no air resistance inside the missile. All they had to do was shrink down and head straight for the warhead, but they had to do it before the second-stage engine ignited. Otherwise...
Janet's eyes lit up. It really was a good idea. She kissed Pym, then shrank down and flew into the opening.
But when Pym tried to shrink himself, he discovered that the Pym Particle dispersal device had malfunctioned.
The earlier battle had damaged his suit as well. It suddenly stopped working, which meant he could no longer shrink.
"My suit malfunctioned!"
He lay flat against the missile and shouted at Janet through the gap.
Janet was dumbfounded too. She had no idea how to destroy the navigation system or the fuse. She was a tailor, not a physicist.
"Then what do we do?!"
Pym looked up. The coastline was already visible in the distance. That dark line was the city, where countless people lived.
He clenched his fist, his expression turning grave. "You do it. This is a Minuteman missile, equipped with an MK2 warhead invented by Howard. The most important parts of the navigation system and electronic fuse are the chips. As long as you can shrink small enough and destroy the signal pathways in the microcircuits, the plan will succeed."
"I don't know if I can do it." Janet panted heavily, nervous.
"I'll stay here with you. If we succeed, we'll go home and celebrate together. If we fail... I won't
